Can employees combine a Business Trip with a Leisure Stay in Poland?

Employees hired in Poland have the option to combine a business trip with a leisure stay. Regulations do not prohibit this practice, provided the arrangement is made with the employer’s consent. At the employee’s request, the employer may agree to extend the employee’s stay at the business trip location for personal purposes unrelated to work.

From a payroll and tax perspective, the business trip officially concludes when the employee finishes performing their assigned business tasks, not when they return to the location designated as the endpoint of the business trip. The additional leisure time spent at the destination is considered separate from the business trip and does not fall under work-related responsibilities.

This flexibility allows employees to make the most of their time away, provided clear agreements are established with the employer to delineate work and personal time during the trip.
