What are the Paid and Unpaid Leaves in Argentina?

In Argentina, employees are entitled to various types of paid and unpaid leave:


Paid Leave

  • Maternity/Pregnancy Leave:

    • 90 days total:
      • 45 days before the expected date of birth
      • 45 days after the birth
  • Paternity Leave (Second Parent):

    • 2 days
  • Marriage Leave:

    • 10 days
  • Bereavement Leave:

    • 3 days for the death of a partner
    • 1 day for the death of a brother
  • Exam Leave:

    • 2 days per exam, up to a maximum of 10 days per year


Unpaid Leave

  • Child Care Leave:

    • Available to female employees with a child, after a minimum of 1 year of seniority. The leave can be from 3 to 6 months.
  • Military Service:

    • Leave for fulfilling mandatory military duties.
  • Performance of Elective Positions:

    • Leave for employees holding or running for elective positions in public office.


These provisions ensure employees can attend to personal, family, and civic responsibilities while balancing their work commitments.
