How to request a salary deduction
Modified on: Mon, 9 Feb, 2026 at 8:01 PM
Salary deductions are highly regulated and cannot be submitted directly through the Horizons platform.
It’s important to understand that deductions from salary require careful legal handling.
Below is an overview of how salary deductions work and what to expect.
Salary deductions require review and employee consent
As an Employer of Record, Horizons is contractually required to pay employees their full fixed monthly salary, as stated in their employment agreement.
Because of this:
Any salary deduction must have a valid business reason
The employee must give explicit written consent
In most cases, this consent must be documented through a formal amendment to the employment agreement
Each request is reviewed case by case for compliance
This process helps ensure deductions follow local labor laws and protects both the employee and the company.
Salary deductions cannot be added in the platform
You cannot enter salary deductions directly in Horizons.
All deduction requests must go through a separate compliance process and be coordinated with our local payroll specialists. This applies globally and is not country-specific.
If you need to request a deduction, please contact your Horizons support team with:
The reason for the deduction
The proposed amount
Supporting documentation
Proof of employee consent (if already available)
Our team will guide you through the next steps.
Adding payments vs. making deductions
There’s an important difference between additional payments and salary deductions:
Additional payments (bonuses, allowances, etc.)
You can add these directly in the platform as non-recurring income.
Examples include:
Bonuses
One-time incentives
Allowances

These always require manual review and approval. They cannot be processed through self-service.
