What is the Batería de Riesgos Psicosociales in Colombia?
In Colombia, labor law requires all employers to implement strategies for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. One key component of this is the “Batería de Riesgos Psicosociales” — a mandatory psychosocial risk assessment designed to identify and manage workplace stress factors.
This assessment is regulated by the Colombian Ministry of Labor under Resolution 2646 of 2008 and aims to promote mental well-being, prevent work-related stress, and improve overall workplace conditions.
What Is the Batería de Riesgos Psicosociales?
The batería consists of a series of standardized online questionnaires created by Colombia’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection. These questionnaires evaluate:
Workload and pace
Role clarity and leadership
Relationships at work
Job control and autonomy
Emotional demands and support systems
Work-life balance
Other psychosocial risk factors
The results are analyzed confidentially by certified occupational health professionals to identify potential risks and recommend improvements if necessary.
Why Participation Is Mandatory
Participation in the assessment is legally required for all employees in Colombia, regardless of role or seniority. Employers are responsible for ensuring full compliance to avoid potential penalties and to meet their occupational health obligations.
At Horizons, as your Employer of Record (EOR) in Colombia, we are committed to ensuring that both clients and employees remain compliant with all local labor regulations. This includes coordinating and facilitating the psychosocial risk assessment process on your behalf.
How the Process Works
Employees receive an email with detailed instructions, including:
A secure link to access the online assessment
A consent form (consentimiento informado) to be signed and submitted
A guide explaining the assessment steps and expectations
Employees complete the questionnaire independently and confidentially before the stated deadline.
Results are reviewed by a licensed occupational health provider, who may provide follow-up or recommendations if needed.
What to Expect
The process is annually and coordinated by Horizons.
It is completely confidential — individual results are not shared with the employer.
The assessment takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
The data collected is used exclusively for health and safety purposes, in line with national regulations.
