What are the Annual Leave Entitlements in Thailand?

In Thailand, annual leave policies are designed to provide employees with time off to rest and rejuvenate.

Annual Leave Entitlement

  • Minimum Leave: Employees are entitled to a minimum of 6 days of annual leave per year. This baseline ensures that all employees have the opportunity to take time off for personal rest and recovery.

Accrual and Pro-Ration

  • First-Year Accrual: For employees in their first year of employment, annual leave is pro-rated. This means the amount of leave accrued is adjusted based on the length of employment within that year.
  • Ongoing Accrual: After the first year, annual leave accrues in full as per the company’s leave policy.

Carrying Over Leave

  • Accumulation: Unused annual leave can be accumulated and carried over to the next year. This flexibility allows employees to save up their leave for extended periods or future needs.
  • Approval for Carry-Over: Carrying over leave is generally subject to the employer's approval, ensuring that leave management aligns with company policies and operational needs.
