What are the standard Probation Periods in Thailand?

In Thailand, the probation period for employees on an unlimited (indefinite) contract are 119 days, which allows employers to assess performance and fit before confirming permanent employment.

There is no legal maximum for the probation period under Thai labor law. However, it is standard and recommended that the probation period does not exceed 119 days.
Severance pay obligations begin after 120 days of employment. Thus, a probation period of up to 119 days allows employers to evaluate employees without incurring severance pay liabilities.
