What is the 90-Day reporting requirement for expats in Thailand?

If you’re a foreigner residing in Thailand for an extended period, understanding the 90-day reporting requirement is essential to staying compliant with Thai immigration laws.

What Is the 90-Day Reporting?

The Thai Immigration Bureau requires all foreigners who stay in Thailand for 90 consecutive days or more to report their current residential address to immigration authorities every 90 days.

Note: This is not a visa renewal. It is a separate process that confirms your address while living in Thailand.

When Do You Have to Report?

You must report to immigration within 15 days before or 7 days after the 90-day period has passed.

  • You can report:

    • Up to 15 days before your 90-day deadline

    • Or up to 7 days after the deadline without penalty

If you leave Thailand and return, the 90-day count resets to Day 1 upon re-entry.

What Happens If You Forget to Report?

Failing to report your address on time may result in fines:

  • 2,000 Baht fine if you report late (for individuals over 15 years old)

  • 5,000 Baht fine if you are found or arrested without having reported

To avoid issues, set reminders and keep track of your last reporting date.

How Can You Report?

There are a few methods to report:

  1. In-person at your local immigration office

  2. By mail (requires specific documentation)

  3. Online via the Immigration Bureau’s e-Services
