For the 2024–2025 tax year, the income tax brackets were adjusted partway through the year, effective from 31 July 2024. This resulted in composite tax rates being applied for the year ended 31 March 2025. The annual tax rates for 2025 are as follows:

Taxable Income (NZD)Tax Rate
$0 – $15,60010.5%
$15,601 – $53,50012.82%
$53,501 – $78,10021.64%
$78,101 – $180,00030.99%
Over $180,00039.0%

These composite rates are used for the 2024–2025 tax year due to the mid-year adjustment. Individuals whose income fluctuated during the year may experience a tax refund or liability based on these composite rates.
