Why doesn’t Horizons offer Fixed-Term Employment Agreements in Australia?

At Horizons, we prioritize long-term stability and compliance with Australian employment laws, which is why we generally do not offer fixed-term employment agreements.

Fixed-term contracts in Australia come with strict regulations. These contracts must have a clear end date or project completion, cannot be terminated early without specific conditions, and can last only up to two years with a single renewal under strict circumstances. Additionally, consecutive fixed-term contracts are prohibited if the job duties are the same as the previous role or if the total employment period exceeds two years.

Given these restrictions, indefinite contracts are more practical for both the company and employees. Offering permanent contracts provides job security and avoids the limitations and disruptions associated with fixed-term agreements.

In certain cases, such as for high-income employees, fixed-term contracts may apply. However, for the majority of roles, Horizons prefers indefinite contracts, fostering a stable and supportive working environment for all employees.
