How do I use my RemoteHealth by Safetywing insurance?
There are two primary ways to access care with your SafetyWing Remote Health coverage:
1. Pay & Claim
For most treatments and visits under US$250, you will pay the provider directly and then submit a claim for reimbursement.
Here’s how:
Book your appointment or treatment with any provider of your choice, no network restrictions.
After your visit, collect:
Medical notes stating what the treatment was for and the date
An itemized invoice or receipt
Log in to your SafetyWing dashboard, click "Make a claim", and fill out the form. It only takes a few minutes.
You’ll need to include:
The reason for treatment
Medical documentation and receipts
Your banking information for reimbursement
Reimbursements are typically settled within 1 week.
2. Direct Billing (for treatments over US$250)
Direct billing is available when your estimated costs are $250 USD or greater. To request this, go to your SafetyWing dashboard, click "Pre-approval or Direct Billing," answer the questions, upload the documents, and submit your request.
SafetyWing team will need at least 7 days’ notice before your appointment, along with a few supporting document: Download SafetyWing handy 1-pager of required documentation.
SafetyWing goal is to make this process as smooth as possible for you. That is why they ask for all documents in advance, missing information will cause delays.

3. Need urgent support?
In an emergency, seek treatment immediately at any licensed hospital, doctor, or clinic.
- Call SafetyWing 24/7 support with our insurance partner, VUMI, at +1 855 276 8864 to provide your location and details of the situation. If you're unable to call, someone else can do it for you.
After you call, SafetyWing medical team will issue an emergency Guarantee of Payment for the first 24 hours of treatment. If you're admitted for longer, we’ll need updated medical notes for direct billing.
New: SafetyWing Payment Card for Expenses Under $150
SafetyWing has introduced a new payment card for employees currently enrolled in Remote Health, effective from August 2025. This card allows you to pay directly at the point of care, for health-related expenses under US$150, without needing to cover the cost yourself and wait for reimbursement.
