How to begin the offboarding process of an employee on the Horizons Platform?

Offboarding is a critical process that ensures a smooth and legally compliant transition when an employment relationship ends. As the legal Employer of Record (EOR), only Horizons is authorized to formally terminate an employment relationship.

To maintain compliance and avoid legal complications, please do not engage in any termination-related discussions with the employee until you have submitted the offboarding request via the Horizons Platform.

Once submitted, our experienced Offboarding Specialists will guide you through every step of the process—ensuring local labor laws are followed and that the offboarding is handled with care, professionalism, and full compliance.

Resignations and Terminations: Submission Process

To ensure a smooth and compliant offboarding experience, please follow the steps outlined below when submitting a resignation or termination.

  • Platform Submission
All resignations and terminations must be submitted promptly through the Horizons platform. Timely submission is critical for ensuring legal compliance and a seamless transition.
  • Specialist Assignment
After submission, a dedicated offboarding specialist will be assigned to support the process, tailored to the employee’s location and the specific details of the case.

Step 1: Select the Employee

Start by accessing the employee's profile within the Horizons platform. This is the first step in initiating the offboarding process.

Step 2: Initiate the Process

Click on the “Actions” button, then select “End Contract” from the dropdown menu to begin the offboarding process.

Step 3: Confirm the Action

Click “End Contract” to confirm.
This action will notify the Horizons team of your intent to offboard the employee. The employee will not be informed at this stage—notification will only occur once explicitly agreed upon with you.

Step 4: Review Termination Overview

You will be presented with an overview of the general termination process.
Please take a moment to review this information carefully, then click “Continue” to proceed.

Step 5: Complete the Termination Information Form

A form will appear requesting key details related to the termination, including:

  • Reason for termination

  • Termination date

  • Employee’s last working day

  • Any other relevant information

Please complete this form as accurately and thoroughly as possible. This ensures full legal compliance and alignment with company policy.

Important Note

As the legal employer, Horizons or our local partner must manage the termination process directly.
Please do not notify the employee until you receive clear guidance and approval from the Horizons team.

In cases of resignation, the resignation letter must be addressed to Horizons or the local employer of record, as specified in the employment agreement.
