What are Digital Work Cards (ERGANI II)?

Modified on: Fri, 20 Mar, 2026 at 6:19 PM

In 2022, the Greek government introduced the Digital Work Card system as part of ERGANI II, the official Greek labour platform. ERGANI II is used to manage employee contracts, working hours, salary information, and labour compliance reporting. The system was designed to improve transparency, ensure accurate reporting, and enforce compliance with Greek labour regulations, particularly in sectors with higher compliance requirements.

Does this apply to employees employed through Remote People?

The Digital Work Card obligations currently apply only to specific business sectors. For employees working from home and employed through Remote People as the Employer of Record (EOR), the Digital Work Card system is not applicable at this time.

Remote People manages all statutory payroll and labour compliance obligations through ERGANI II, including the registration and reporting of employee contracts and employment data.

Key Points

• Digital Work Cards are not required for employees employed through Remote People in Greece.

• All statutory payroll and labour compliance obligations are handled through Remote People's infrastructure, including reporting of employee contracts and employment data to ERGANI II.

• While Digital Work Cards are not currently in use, it is recommended that employees continue to record their working hours using the Remote People timesheets feature. This supports accurate tracking and ongoing compliance with labour regulations.

Will this change in the future?

The Greek government may expand the Digital Work Card requirement to additional sectors over time. If this impacts employees employed through Remote People, we will notify affected clients and employees in advance and provide guidance on any new obligations.
