Public Holidays Calendar in Burundi

Employees in Burundi are entitled to paid leave on designated public holidays. These holidays are recognized by law and must not result in any reduction of daily, weekly, or monthly wages.
If an employee is required to work on a public holiday, they are entitled to double pay (200%) of their regular hourly wage.
The following are the recognized public holidays in Burundi:
- 1 January – New Year’s Day
- 5 February – National Unity and Reconciliation Day
- 6 April – Commemoration of the Assassination of President Cyprien Ntaryamira
- Ascension Day – Date varies
- 1 May – Labour Day
- 8 June – National Patriotism Day & Commemoration of President Pierre Nkurunziza
- 1 July – Independence Day
- 15 August – Assumption Day
- 13 October – Commemoration of the Assassination of National Hero Prince Louis Rwagasore
- 21 October – Commemoration of the Assassination of President Melchior Ndadaye
- 1 November – All Saints’ Day
- 25 December – Christmas Day
- Eid-El-Fitr – Date varies (Islamic calendar)
- Eid-El-Hadj – Date varies (Islamic calendar)
