What are the rules for Sick leave?

Employees in Burundi are entitled to paid sick leave under the following conditions:

  • They must notify their sick leave within 24 hours of falling ill.
  • For extended absences, they must provide a medical certificate to justify the leave. 
  • Employees on sick leave are entitled to a daily allowance equal to at least 66.7% (⅔) of their regular salary .
