What mandatory bonuses must be paid in Peru?

Under Peruvian labor law, employees are entitled to two statutory bonuses each year, commonly referred to as the 13th and 14th salaries. These bonuses are mandatory and are administered by Horizons as part of our payroll service.

Types of Bonuses

  1. July Bonus – Paid in celebration of Fiestas Patrias

  2. December Bonus – Paid for Christmas

Key Details

  • Each bonus is equivalent to one full month’s salary.

  • Bonuses must be paid in the first half of July and the first half of December.

  • Employees must be actively employed during the first 15 days of July or December to qualify for the full bonus.

  • If an employee has worked less than six full months during the applicable period, the bonus is paid proportionally based on months worked.
