What are the public holidays observed in Peru?

Peru recognizes 12 official public holidays each year. These holidays are observed nationwide and are generally days off for employees, with specific legal protections.


List of Public Holidays

  1. January 1 – New Year’s Day

  2. Holy Thursday and Good Friday (dates vary)

  3. May 1 – Labor Day

  4. June 29 – San Pedro y San Pablo

  5. July 28 and 29 – Fiestas Patrias (Independence Day celebrations)

  6. August 30 – Santa Rosa de Lima

  7. October 8 – Combate de Angamos

  8. November 1 – All Saints’ Day

  9. December 8 – Immaculate Conception

  10. December 25 – Christmas Day


Weekend Holidays

If a public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there is no additional day off granted on the following Monday or any other weekday. Employees do not receive a substitute holiday in this case.
