Horizons offers two primary types of employment agreements in Peru: unlimited (indefinite) contracts and fixed-term contracts. The choice between these depends on the nature of the role and the client’s operational requirements. Both contract types can be structured for full-time or part-time employment.


Unlimited (Indefinite) Employment Contracts

This is the standard employment agreement Horizons offers in Peru. It is the default arrangement under Peruvian labor law and provides long-term employment stability.

  • Availability: Offered for both full-time and part-time positions.

  • Part-time specifics: For part-time roles, the employment agreement will clearly state the reduced working hours, which are typically fewer than the standard full-time weekly hours established by law.

  • Benefits: Indefinite contracts provide employees with the full scope of statutory benefits, including severance protection and notice periods upon termination.


Fixed-Term Employment Contracts

Fixed-term contracts are less commonly used but are available when justified by the nature of the work.

  • Permitted Use: Only valid when there is a specific project or service with a clearly defined purpose and a limited duration.

  • Contract Duration and Renewal: The term must align with the time required to complete the specified project or service. These contracts can be renewed multiple times, but only as long as the underlying project or service remains ongoing.

  • Legal Consideration: If there is no valid justification for the temporary nature of the role, or if the contract is extended without proper cause, it may be reclassified as an indefinite contract under Peruvian law.

  • Availability: Fixed-term contracts may also be structured as full-time or part-time, with the applicable working hours clearly indicated for part-time roles.
