What public holidays are observed for employees in Cyprus?

Employees in Cyprus are entitled to 15 public holidays per year. In 2025, these holidays include:

  • January 1: New Year’s Day

  • March 25: Revolution of 1821

  • April 17: Maundy Thursday

  • April 18: Good Friday

  • April 21: Easter Monday

  • May 1: May Day

  • May 2: Madrid Day

  • June 1: Theophany

  • June 9: Pentecost

  • June 24: Summer Solstice (Jani Day)

  • August 15: Assumption of the Virgin Mary

  • October 1: National Anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus

  • December 8: Local Religious Holiday

  • December 24: Christmas Eve

  • December 25: Christmas Day

  • December 26: Boxing Day


If a public holiday falls on a weekend, there is no additional day off granted in lieu.
