What is the minimum wage in Latvia for 2025?

As of 1 January 2025, the minimum monthly wage in Latvia for full-time work is €740. This applies to all employees working under standard full-time hours, as defined by Latvian labor law.

Key Provisions:

  • Latvia has a decentralised wage-setting system, but there is one legally binding national minimum wage that all employers must comply with.

  • The minimum wage level is regulated under Section 61, Paragraph 2 of the Labour Law.

  • Employers cannot pay less than the government-established minimum wage for full-time work.

Collective Agreements:

  • Wages may also be set or adjusted through collective agreements at the company or industry level, often involving trade unions or employee representatives.

  • These agreements may only improve (not reduce) employee conditions compared to statutory requirements, in line with Section 6 of the Labour Law.

  • Therefore, higher wages than the national minimum may apply in specific sectors or companies with collective bargaining agreements.

Wage Oversight:

  • The Cabinet of Ministers determines the national minimum monthly wage, hourly wage rates, and the procedures for wage review.
