For Employees Covered by the Employment Act:

Emplyoees are entitled to a paid public holiday on 3 May 2025.

  • If you’re required to work on Polling Day:
    You must be given either an extra day’s salary or a full day off.

  • If Polling Day falls on your non-working day (such as Saturday in a 5-day work week), you are still entitled to:

    • One day off (to be taken on another day), or

    • One day’s salary in lieu.

This ensures that public holiday entitlements apply even if the holiday falls on a non-working day.
