What is the Maternity Leave Policy in the Czech Republic?

In the Czech Republic, employees are entitled to maternity leave to support them during childbirth and early child-rearing.

Maternity Leave Duration:

  1. Standard Maternity Leave:

    • Employees are entitled to 28 weeks of maternity leave.
  2. Maternity Leave for Multiple Births:

    • For multiple births, the maternity leave is extended to 37 weeks.
  3. Timing of Maternity Leave:

    • Maternity leave can start at least 8 weeks before the expected due date but no later than 6 weeks before.
    • The total duration of maternity leave must be at least 14 weeks.

Compensation During Maternity Leave:

  • Compensation Rate:
    • Employees on maternity leave are entitled to 70% of their regular salary, which is paid by the Czech Social Security Administration.
