What are the standard Working Hours in Mozambique? How about Overtime?

In Mozambique, working hours and overtime rules are designed to balance productivity with employee well-being.

Standard Working Hours

  • Weekly Limit: There is no legal maximum for working hours per week, but the standard maximum is 48 hours per week.
  • Daily Limit: Employees typically work up to 8 hours per day.

Overtime Work

When employees work beyond their standard hours, overtime compensation is provided as follows:

  • Overtime Before 8 PM: For overtime hours worked before 8 PM, employees are entitled to 150% of their regular salary. This rate reflects the additional effort required during regular working hours.

  • Overtime Between 8 PM and the Next Working Day: For overtime hours worked between 8 PM and the next working day, employees are entitled to 200% of their regular salary. This higher rate compensates for working outside regular business hours and during night-time.
