What are the Summer Working Hours in Spain?

At Horizons, we recognize the importance of work-life balance, especially during the summer months. In line with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (XVII Convenio colectivo estatal de empresas de consultoría y estudios de mercado y de la opinión pública), we implement a reduced working schedule, known as "summer hours," for the month of August.

What Are Summer Hours?

Summer hours refer to a reduced weekly working schedule that allows employees to enjoy shorter workdays during the summer, particularly in August. At Horizons, this means that you will work a total of 36 hours per week during August.

How Does the Summer Hours Schedule Work?

  • Monday to Thursday: You will follow your normal working hours.
  • Friday: A shortened schedule from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM will be in effect.

This schedule allows for an early start to your weekend, giving you more time to relax and recharge.

Does the Summer Hours Schedule Impact My Pay?

No, the reduction in weekly working hours during the summer does not affect your pay. You will continue to receive your full salary as usual.

Additional Policy Details

  • Vacation Days: If you take a vacation day on a Friday, you cannot transfer the summer hours to another day of the week. The summer hours benefit is specific to Fridays.

  • Productivity: While enjoying the benefits of summer hours, it’s important to ensure that your productivity remains consistent. Summer hours should not interfere with the completion of your tasks and responsibilities.
